As a polysaccharide and humectant, fucoidan effectively draws and retains water within the skin, mirroring the hydrating properties of well known polysaccharides such as hyaluronic acid.

Fucoidan's sulfated structure resembles that of sulfated glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which can allow fucoidan to interact with the skin’s ECM (Extra-Cellular Matrix), supporting its structure and function.
