Validating a Shared Vision
At the recent Making Cosmetics trade show, Origin by Ocean had the honor of standing alongside Evonik as recipients of the Green Dream Sustainability Awards. For a growth-stage company, sharing the stage with an established industry leader was a powerful validation of a shared vision: a truly circular chemical industry where performance, sustainability and regeneration go hand in hand.
Origin by Ocean was recognized for the overall sustainability of the operations that produce purified, biodegradable and bio-based ingredients. But to amplify the impact of individual success and innovation, circular ingredients must be intentionally brought together. This belief is what drives the work of our New Product Development team.
From Shared Values to Shared Formulation
To demonstrate what can be achieved through visionary collaboration, we recently released a new formulation, the Second Wave Emulsion, or if you may, the Green Dream Cream. The formulation is designed to encourage beauty and personal care brands to create products that are 100% bio-based and biodegradable.
This high-performance prototype brings together Evonik’s ECOHANCE® Soft Baobab and ECOHANCE® Care PS3, an upcycled emulsifier system, with Origin by Ocean’s ocean-derived ingredients: OCEANTHIX™ LV, a purified biopolymer delivering elegant rheology, and OCEANBOOST™ LF for soothing hydration.
The formulation is 100% natural origin, with an oil phase composed entirely of circular materials. The sensorial experience is rich yet fast-absorbing, leaving a velvet, plumped finish that proves circularity does not mean compromise. It means re-engineering beauty from the ground up.
To us, this cream is a practical demonstration of what becomes possible when companies move beyond competition and into co-creation.
Introducing the Circular Cosmetic Collective
That same spirit of collaboration is the foundation of the recently launched Circular Cosmetic Collective (CCC).
The Circular Cosmetic Collective brings together nine impact-led ingredient innovators: COLIPI, Gaia Tech, Innomost, Kaffe Bueno, Lignopure, NoPalm Ingredients, Origin by Ocean, Swedish Algae Factory and The Upcycled Beauty Company. Each member operates at the forefront of circularity, transforming diverse waste and side streams into high-performance ingredients for beauty and personal care.
What unites the Collective is a shared understanding that no single technology or company can solve circularity alone. By sharing knowledge, experience and credibility, the CCC provides a platform to support brands and formulators navigating sustainability claims, regulatory complexity and the growing demand for transparency.
Circularity is not a trend. It is a systems shift, and systems change requires collective momentum.

The Green Dream Cream and the Circular Cosmetic Collective tell the same story from different angles. One shows what collaboration can achieve through formulation. The other shows what collaboration can unlock across an industry.
